Another casualty of the Interstate is located a few miles east of Winona where old Route 66 started to climb into the wooded foothills of the Colorado Plateau. Twin Arrows Trading Post, just recently closed, with the price of gas frozen at $1.39 a gallon, and the last hamburger sold.

If you are off of Highway 40, it is not far from Flagstaff. If memory serves I believe exit 225 :)

I've been by that one too. Or maybe it was another in the same chain of stores.

More than likely :) The first time, I saw this was last year and I passed it.

Once again, we passed each other on the road.
We saw it enroute to Meteor, but got preoccupied the other two times we went passed it.
It did look like a great spot.
The trading post may be gone, but just think within a year there will be a new humongous casino within a few miles.
Makes you wonder when the new young turks will be taking pics of the old abandoned casinos.

LOl! We seem to be doing that quite a bit lately!

The trading post is actually still there, as is the diner. I believe that one of the local tribes is attempting to refurbish it to get it on the historical markers list. One of the arrow ends was recently replaced, and the entire area is behind concrete road blocks. There was literally NO place to turn off. Myself and two other cars of photographers were playing merry-go-round on the offramps.
